The Initial Emergency

The client called our emergency response team after discovering water staining and active dripping spreading across the downstairs ceiling plasterboard. A burst heating run above was suspected. Our engineer immediately attended to contain the escape of water, locate the concealed defect beneath the upper flooring, and prevent secondary ceiling collapse.

Concealed Leak Tracing & Floor Access

Traced the trajectory of the central heating pipes directly above the affected downstairs ceiling. Carefully lifted floorboards with precision tools, preserving the timber for clean reinstatement.

System Drain-Down & Isolation

Isolated the central heating circuit and drained down the loop to stop active water ingress through the joists into the downstairs living areas.

Pipe Section Extraction & Soldered Replacement

Cut away the fractured copper pipe section and compromised fittings. Installed fresh WRAS-approved copper pipework and securely soldered all capillary joints to withstand thermal expansion cycles.

Re-Pressurisation, Air Bleeding & Sign-Off

Recharged the heating circuit with water, bled airlocks from surrounding radiators, and verified operating pressure. Monitored all new soldered joints under peak heating load before re-securing the floorboards.
